Why black background?

I built my web site in 1994. It's changed a bit since then, but there's a clear lineage of the content since then. If it looks like my web site was built back in the 1990s... that's because it was. I was a college student then - not a middle-aged father of three.

I formated my "home page" to have black backgrounds to protest Internet censorship as part of the Great Web Blackout in February 1996. While those particular bills were defeated, Internet censorship is still a concern, so the page remains black.
