On blogging

Holy moley.  Blogging is a lot of work.  As I noted in my intro post, I have a near-endless supply of opinionated rants about many topics.  How hard could it be to just type one up every few days?

My objectives were threefold: (1) distill my opinions into written words for future reference, (2) reach a broader audience so as to influence more people’s thinking, and (3) practice writing, particularly persuasive writing.

Having now published 18 substantive articles over the course of two-and-a-half months, I conclude that writing – at least at the level of thought and research that I’m putting in – is exhausting.   There’s probably an interesting trade-off between currency and polish with respect to content.  Is it better to have timely articles frequently, or well researched, painstakingly considered articles less often?

Overall, I’ve enjoyed it and I’ve got a lot more to say.  Practice makes perfect, they say, so onward I go.

You’re right about that. If you look at my blog, you’ll see I only post a few times a year. If that. So I salute you. Keep up the good work!
